Virgin Atlantic has come to the rescue if you want to use your points and miles to book Delta One business class across the Atlantic but groan at the thought of parting with 350,000 plus Delta SkyMiles per flight.

Finding any Delta long-haul business-class award available through partner airline programs is usually very difficult. However, at the time of publication, there are more than 200 transatlantic flights available to book through Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club program from just 47,500 Virgin points each way.

Here's how to use your transferable credit card points to snap up this great deal.

How to find and book Delta One seats with Virgin points

I found this availability using the handy Delta One Finder tool, part of my secret weapon for finding the best award seats, on the fantastic Seats.aero. This tool showed me all transatlantic seats through Flying Club in seconds, which I could then filter by routes, dates and prices.

While there is good availability to and from Europe right now, you'll want to focus on seats from Europe to the U.S. becsuse Flying Club, unfortunately, levies a carrier-imposed surcharge of almost $1,000 on Delta One redemptions to Europe. This surcharge is not applicable on flights departing from Europe.

At the time of publication, more than 100 flights with Delta One award availability are bookable with Virgin points. Seats are available from March to November 2025. This includes summer travel dates, which are usually in high-demand travel and difficult to snag when finding affordable flights with cash or points and miles.

Flying Club has four different award charts for Delta flights to and from Europe, which can be complex to decipher, especially as they don't publish a calendar of off-peak and peak dates. But they all represent good points values if you can find availability (noting the U.S. to Europe surcharge).

Prices start as follows:

  • Off-peak dates: 47,500 points in business class from Europe (including the U.K.) to the U.S. East Coast and Midwest
  • Peak dates: Up to 77,500 points in business class on peak dates from Europe (including the U.K.) to the U.S. West Coast region

How would you like to spend 10 hours in Delta One from Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO) to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) for 47,500 Virgin points plus 248 euros (about $268) in June?

Meanwhile, Delta's SkyMiles program will charge you more than seven times the number of points and miles required for the same flight — noting the fees, taxes and surcharges are lower, thanks to its controversial dynamic pricing.

SKYMILES

Another example is an impressive eight business-class seats available from Dublin Airport (DUB) to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) in September for just 47,500 Virgin points per person plus 232 euros (about $250).

Again, booking this through Flying Club will save you hundreds of thousands of points compared with SkyMiles. Air France-KLM's Flying Blue program charges significantly more than Flying Club for these flights; its prices start from 67,500 miles but can go much higher.

How to earn Virgin points

Virgin points are easy to earn, and Flying Club is a transfer partner of every major transferable currency:

It's worth noting that Capital One miles transfer to Virgin Red, not directly to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

We also occasionally see transfer bonuses to Flying Club, meaning you could need even fewer credit card points than the amounts quoted above.

Bottom line

Travelers are likely to book these seats quickly, given the great deal compared to booking through SkyMiles or other partner programs.

I have found that Delta One availability through Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club program between Europe and the U.S. comes and goes. Sometimes, there are hardly any seats available for the entire year; other times, many seats are added without warning, such as now. This availability is as good as I've seen in a while, and it's especially pleasing that there are so many seats available over the European summer.

This offer reinforces the value and power of transferable points. If you want to fly Delta One from Europe to the U.S. for as few as 47,500 points with reasonable fees, taxes and surcharges, book these seats while they last.
