Delta's flash sale to Malta

Delta SkyMiles isn't known for having the best award rates, but it does give select cobranded credit card holders a 15% discount on award flights, and it often runs flash sales to help you stretch your miles further.
From now until April 17, Delta's latest sale is offering up to 60% off redemptions to Malta, one of Delta's newest destinations.
For its new direct route from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Malta International Airport (MLA), the carrier is advertising round-trip fares as low as:
- 30,000 miles in basic economy (60% off)
- 56,000 miles in main cabin (45% off)
- 88,000 miles in Comfort+ (25% off)
- 154,000 miles in Delta Premium Select (20% off)
- 196,000 miles in Delta One (51% off)
These prices don't include the 15% cardholder discount. Meanwhile, travelers based elsewhere in the U.S. can book round-trip redemptions starting at:
- 46,000 miles in basic economy (40% off)
- 77,000 miles in main cabin (25% off)
- 88,000 miles in Comfort+ (25% off)
- 155,000 miles in Delta Premium Select (20% off)
- 280,000 miles in Delta One (30% off)
But some fares are even lower. We spotted prices on the JFK-MLA route this July for just 26,800 miles round-trip in basic economy (22,700 with the 15% cardholder discount) and 47,800 miles round-trip in main cabin (40,500 with the discount), plus $47 in taxes and fees.

Cash rates for this particular flight are currently $969 round-trip in main cabin classic. After subtracting the taxes and fees, that comes out to an excellent 1.9 cents per point (or 2.3 cents per point if you have the cardholder discount) — well above TPG's April 2026 valuation of 1.2 cents per Delta mile.
These deals are only available on select dates, but you can use Delta's calendar search tool to find the best options. The sale applies to travel from June through August.

If you're thinking of jumping on this deal and you don't already have a Delta credit card with the TakeOff 15 benefit, it may be worth adding one to your wallet. You could save thousands of miles on this flight alone, while getting other valuable perks like free checked bags, flight credits and more.
And don't forget: If you don't have enough SkyMiles in your account, you can transfer Amex Membership Rewards points to Delta at a 1:1 ratio. Transfers typically happen almost instantly, so as soon as you confirm the award availability you want, you can move your points and be ready to book your dream Malta vacation.
