Buy or Renew US Airways Club (And American Admirals Club) Membership for 5,000 Preferred Qualifying Miles

Now through May 31, 2014 when you buy or renew your US Airways Club membership (and get access to all 35 American Airlines Admirals Clubs as well), US Airways will give you 5,000 Preferred-qualifying miles. The reason you might want to consider doing this is because The Platinum Card® from American Express (which just raised its welcome bonus to 60,000 points when you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months) will no longer include American Airlines and US Airways Club lounge access as of March 22, 2014.

As I mentioned, US Airways Club membership now also includes access to American's Admirals Clubs, and once US Airways leaves Star Alliance for Oneworld (though it's keeping some Star Alliance partners) on March 31, 2014, US Airways club members should get some reciprocal club benefits with Oneworld partner lounges.
While 5,000 Preferred-qualifying might not seem like a huge amount, if it would make the difference between qualifying for that next tier or not, this could make sense for you - especially if you're an middle or upper-tier elite who can get a discounted membership rate. Also remember that if you do have the Platinum, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express or Mercedes-Benz Platinum card from Amex, you can apply your annual $200 airline rebate toward club membership bringing down the cost even further.
