No matter what you're buying for the house or the holidays, there's a decent shot you can get it on Amazon. Believe it or not, one of the popular ways to use credit card points is on Amazon orders.

Normally, we don't really recommend using your points in that way as you typically get less than 1 cent per point in value, which isn't a great use of points. However, there are exceptions to every 'rule' and one of those is when you can get a discount on your Amazon order for using a small number of points.

We often talk about a version of this deal that can save you up to 50% on your Amazon order using as few as one Amex Membership Rewards point, but if you have a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you might be able to save on Amazon using a few of those points, too, via a targeted offer just for certain Chase cardholders.

Check to see if you can save as much as 50% on your Amazon order by using as few as 500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you activate the offer and follow the terms for its use.

Offers available when using Chase Ultimate Rewards points to pay on Amazon

The version of this offer that I was most recently targeted for allowed me to save 30% on my Amazon order if I used at least 500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, up to a max of $15 saved.

However, I have heard of other offers that go up to 50% off with the same 500-point minimum redemption and the same cap of $15 off, though those details can and likely will change over time as various targeted offers are released.

How to save up to 50% by using Chase points on Amazon

If you have a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards, you'll need to link that card to your Amazon account and enroll in its 'Pay with Points' feature before you can potentially get any related offers.

AMAZON

Once you do that, I recommend selecting "off" to the "apply by default" points option so you don't accidentally use points for your next order. Typically, you get 8/10 of a cent in value per Chase point redeemed for Amazon, which is far below most other uses, so we don't recommend this on an ongoing basis in most situations.

Sometimes it takes a day or so after linking your accounts to be able to add promos, so it's worth checking back to see if you can add the promo for using Chase points on items shipped and sold by Amazon a day or so after you link your account if it doesn't work at first.

At the Amazon checkout screen, you'll be able to select the number of dollars you'd like to pay in Chase points toward your cart. For the purposes of this promo, $4 (aka 500 points) is often the minimum required amount.

Bottom line

There are lots of great Black Friday deals on Amazon right now, and being able to ramp up the savings with promos such as this one for up to 50% off using as few as 500 Chase points is pretty great if you are targeted and can make it work.
