Venture X Business loses Priority Pass restaurant access: Another one bites the dust
Another premium travel rewards credit card is losing Priority Pass restaurant access: The Capital One Venture X Business is next on the list, as first reported by MilesTalk.
We are unsurprised by this, as the popular Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees) recently announced it is axing this benefit from July 1.
This removal is likely due to the Venture X switching from being a Mastercard to a Visa card in April.
However, existing cardholders of the Venture X Business will not be losing Priority Pass restaurant access — for now, at least — because they have the Mastercard version. Conversely, new cardholders are now issued a Visa, meaning they won't have access.
We reached out to Capital One, and they confirmed:
New Venture X Business cardholders will no longer receive access to the non-lounge airport experiences on Priority Pass through their program membership benefits. Currently, there are no plans to change this benefit for existing Venture X Business cardholders.

"This dilutes the card's value, and it is disappointing to not get advance notice. I expect this benefit to be removed from existing Mastercard cardholders sometime in the future," TPG managing editor for credit cards Matt Moffitt said.
That said, with a $395 annual fee brought down to effectively $95 by maximizing its $300 travel credits, this card still offers a very high-value proposition and is far cheaper than its competitors offering lounge access.
Bottom line
We are unsurprised that another credit card is losing Priority Pass restaurant access, as that seems to be the norm nowadays with premium credit cards. Existing cardholders of the Venture X Business will still have access to Priority Pass restaurants, but we do not expect that to last much longer.
With this news, we ask ourselves what card will cut Priority Pass restaurant access next, with few cards remaining.
