Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.
Oneworld airline LATAM just launched some incredible deals from the US to South America in business class. You can fly in lie-flat business class to Bogota from just $648 round-trip, Guayaquil (launch point to the Galápagos islands) for $1,098 round-trip or even all the way down to Brazil for just $1,298 round-trip. Many of these options are out of Miami, but some are out of New York, Washington DC and Orlando. The deal runs from October through March, making it great for a winter escape to South America.
These flights are easily searchable with Google Flights. Once you find dates that work for you, click through to book on LATAM's website or use Orbitz or Expedia to get a slightly longer free cancellation period.
