You Can Now Request a Hilton Honors Diamond Status Extension
Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.
The latest Hilton Honors enhancement is now live — as of today, Diamond members who didn't requalify for 2017 but meet certain other criteria can extend their status for an additional year (currently through March 31, 2018).
You can request a status extension if you:
- Are currently a Diamond member (through March 2017) and have been a Diamond member for at least three years
- AND Have completed stays totaling at least 250 nights, paid or reward
- OR Have accumulated 500,000 Base Points or more since joining Hilton Honors
So you need to satisfy the first requirement above, and either the second or the third.
To request your extension, head to this site and fill in your name, Honors number and email address by March 31, 2017. It can take up to five business days for your status extension to be approved.
Notably, if you participated in a status match (as many of you surely did), your year of status from the match won't count toward the three-year requirement. Similarly, you can't use this perk to extend elite status from a match — in other words, if you've met the requirements above, you must also have earned status organically from 2015 stays. Additionally, your extended year of status will not count toward any lifetime status requirements.
If you aren't able to participate in this program, all hope is not lost. You can still get free Hilton Honors Gold status if you currently have the Amex Platinum Card, and the incremental Diamond benefits are limited — Gold members still get room upgrades, free water bottles, health club access, the fifth night free on awards and complimentary breakfast (at select hotels), though you may miss out on Executive Lounge access (including the lounge at the Conrad Tokyo seen up above) and some other fairly minor perks.
Will you be extending your Hilton Honors status?
