TPG Contributor Jack Archer rounds up five super-sleek carry-on bags perfect for your next trip, whether you're looking to splurge on a new suitcase or save money on one.

Nothing puts a damper on a getaway like an ugly run-of-the-mill carry-on with zippers that decide to work only periodically. If you're feeling less than proud of your packing situation, it may be time to ditch the hunk of junk and upgrade to one of these stylish selections, which range in price from $225 to $585. Expertly crafted and flat-out cool, anything listed here will help you and your stuff stand out in the best of ways.

The Carry-On, by Away ($225)

Recently launched by a few ex-Warby Parker execs, Away cuts out the middleman to provide high-quality carry-ons to consumers at insanely low prices. Made from premium German polycarbonate, the interior sports a patent-pending compression system, removable laundry bag, 360-degree spinning wheels, a nifty built-in battery so you can charge devices via USB cord and all the ultralight durability and flexibility one would need in a piece of luggage. Oh, and did we mention they're beautiful and come with a lifetime limited warranty?

Fabbrica Pelletterie Milano Globe Spinner 55 ($329)

Constructed in Italy from 100% polycarbonate, this looker from Fabbrica Pelletterie Milano is streamlined, stylish and available in a variety of colors. Though you can never go wrong with black, there's something particularly cool about the hunter green variation that makes it stand out from the crowd in the best of ways.

There's no gimmick, secret compartment or legendary story behind this bag — it's just a quality, durable, have-it-for-life piece of luggage — and there's something so beautiful about that kind of simplicity.

Rimowa Salsa Air ($475)

Rimowa has a rich history of producing quality globetrotting gear that dates back to 1898. One of the company's most affordable modern options is the Salsa Air Ultralight Cabin Multiwheel, which, despite its (relatively) low price tag, still packs a serious punch. It's made with the same polycarbonate material that's used to make motorcycle helmets, and features an extendable handle, TSA-approved key-free locks and multi-directional wheels, all sheathed in a lightweight and resilient shell that's dripping in minimalist style.

The Arlo Skye Carry-On ($495)

Arlo Skye, a travel upstart that puts good design and high quality above all else, debuted in 2016 to rave reviews. The gorgeous, anodized aluminum alloy carry-on features reinforced corners, strength-enhancing grooves and not a single zipper, opting for a one-touch open/close frame instead. Also included is a built-in portable charger with a USB charging cable, removable compression packing panels, shoe bags, laundry bags, full-grain-leather name tag and a limited-edition set of travel note cards featuring illustrations by Stockholm-based artist Jens Magnusson. Note that the carry-on isn't actually available until August but you can still preorder it through Arlo Skye's website.

Hook & Albert Leather Garment Weekender Bag ($585)

If you're okay with ditching the wheels for a duffel bag, this leather option from Hook & Albert is flat-out incredible. It secretly unzips completely, transforming from pack-it-all to garment bag in seconds. This video shows it in action:

With space to keep your suits, shirts and dress shoes crisp and fresh, this is an especially clutch option for those who frequently travel for business.
