As you might have seen, a brand-new limited-time offer dropped on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card — you can earn 75,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of card membership.
Since this is pretty big and exciting news, I wanted to give you my take on this card and increased offer. According to TPG valuations, that bonus is worth over $1,500 — and it’s possible to get even more value than that if you redeem your points in some of the ways I’ll outline below. Chase is also offering 75,000 bonus points on the premium Chase Sapphire Reserve® for the same spending requirements.
I almost exclusively use my Chase Ultimate Rewards points by transferring them to airline partners for booking award tickets.
In fact, I’m excited that next week, I get to fly on Virgin Atlantic, which is one of Chase’s transfer partners. It has great award availability, although high taxes and fees, and an exciting product on its A350 and A330 planes. (Note: I avoid its 787s in business class because they have the older, more cramped seats.)
I also like redeeming for flights on Air France, especially when there are transfer bonuses. Air France still has a lot of really low business-class redemptions for 50,000 miles each way. Even cheaper award seats are available through Flying Blue’s Promo Rewards each month, which is when you can sometimes book an economy award seat for 15,000 miles each way.
I have also transferred quite a bit of my Chase points to United Airlines, where I can often get 3 cents per point in value, especially in business class.
Another great redemption is to transfer Chase points to Hyatt and redeem for a Category 8 hotel like the Park Hyatt Sydney (I love that property) or Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome. Both start at 35,000 World of Hyatt points per night.
Overall, Chase points are super valuable and a large part of my overall points and miles strategy. I wish I could get in on this Chase bonus, but unfortunately, I’ve earned a Sapphire bonus in the last four years, so I don’t qualify right now. But if you have any friends or family members looking for a card with a solid bonus offer and great perks, this limited-time offer of 75,000 bonus points on the Sapphire Preferred is worth the hype and a no-brainer in my book.
Have a great weekend,
BK
