While the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is a busy day, others see more passengers. In fact, today won’t even be the busiest day of the holiday. That’s expected to come Sunday, when the Transportation Security Administration predicts that 2.9 million people will pass through its checkpoints — possibly setting a new Thanksgiving record.
While most Americans may be focused on Thanksgiving, there’s also been a lot of airline news. Here’s what you might have missed since our last Aviation newsletter:
Such perks tend to be a staple of the premium cabin, but that will change for United Airlines when it begins adding new Airbus A321neo planes to its fleet by the end of the month. Those aircraft will feature walk-up grab-and-go stations for passengers. TPG’s Zach Griff has the scoop on what to expect.
And if you remember the buzz about United’s spacious, premium-heavy regional jet — the CRJ-550 — that jet also features a walk-up bar. That one, however, is in fact for first-class passengers.
If you’re flying on Southwest Airlines this holiday season, buying adult beverages is going to be more expensive. The carrier raised its prices on alcoholic drinks last week — though A-List elite members still get two complimentary drinks.
Restaurants beyond airport screening checkpoints often get a bad rap, but one company is trying to change that. For the foodies among us, TPG’s David Slotnick takes a look at airport concessionaire OTG and its effort to make the airport dining experience a fine one.
We’ll leave it there for this week. Safe travels to all, and enjoy some mashed potatoes and stuffing for me.
Until next time …
