United Airlines is elevating its status in the Mile High City with another big expansion.

The Chicago-based carrier announced Thursday that it would add eight new routes from its hub at Denver International Airport (DEN) for the summer 2025 season — injecting another growth spurt into the carrier's fastest-growing hub.

The routes are highlighted by an all-new, long-haul flight to Rome. This new 5,547-mile seasonal service will commence May 1, 2025, and fly daily through Sept. 24, 2025.

On this route, United will deploy a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner that features 48 Polaris business-class pods, 21 Premium Plus recliners, 39 Economy Plus extra-legroom seats and 149 standard economy seats.

In addition to United's new Rome flight, the airline is adding seven new short-haul destinations, three of which are currently unserved by any other airline from Denver.

The full list of destinations includes:

  • Buffalo, New York
  • Pensacola, Florida
  • North Bend, Oregon
  • Peoria, Illinois
  • Redding, California
  • Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
  • Wilmington, North Carolina

Notably, service to Redding, Regina and Wilmington will become new nonstop routes from Denver. Previously, flying to these cities required connecting elsewhere across the country.

Several of the new domestic routes — including Pensacola, North Bend and Wilmington — will operate only during the peak summer season.

All in all, United's Denver expansion follows many other recent investments in the airport. This includes brand-new United Clubs, a revamped check-in and departures hall, and expanded service across the country and the world.

Southwest Airlines is United's biggest foe in Denver, and the carriers have fought for dominance in the city for years. Some tactics that the carriers have used to woo local flyers include targeted advertising and local promotions.

United, for its part, seems committed to Denver for the long haul. The hub has been its fastest growing for years now, and there are no signs of this slowing.

In fact, there have even been rumors in recent years that the airline might consider moving its headquarters to Denver, where it already operates the world's largest flight training center.

"United's continued commitment to delivering an exceptional travel experience in Denver is underscored by these new routes and the nearly $1 billion in investments we have made to enhance the customer experience and bring greater convenience," Jonna McGrath, vice president of United's Denver hub, said in a statement. "As Denver's hometown airline, we're proud to offer more destinations than any other carrier, giving Colorado residents and travelers passing through Denver unmatched flexibility and options to explore the destinations they want to visit most."
