Singer Richard Marx Helps Restrain Passenger on Korean Air Flight (Video)
OK, let's just stipulate up front that we'll forgo the terrible "Right Here Waiting" and "Should've Known Better" puns, shall we?
On Tuesday 80's pop star Richard Marx reportedly helped to subdue an unruly airline passenger during a Korean Air flight from Hanoi to Seoul. Marx, who was traveling on KE 480 with his wife — former MTV VJ Daisy Fuentes — ran into trouble when an apparently drunk passenger became belligerent.
According to Fuentes, the man "got crazy & started attacking the flight attendants & passengers. When he started pushing the female staff and pulling them by the hair @therichardmarx was the first to help subdue him."
Both Marx and Fuentes posted photos and information about the incident on their social media pages.
The couple indicated there was also video taken of the incident, and a clip was later posted to YouTube (see below), though it did not appear to be from the singer and his wife. The video, which as of this writing could not be independently verified, appears to show the man being restrained by flight attendants while repeatedly yelling and spitting at them.
Both Fuentes and Marx stated the situation unfolded over a 4 hour period and was problematic because the crew could not properly restrain the passenger and did not know how to use the taser gun, which a flight attendant can be seen holding in one of the photos.
Marx, in particular, had scathing words for the crew on Twitter...
In a statement issued to the media, Korean Air denied that was the case. "The flight attendant considered the safety of the other passengers and decided to restrain the passenger with ropes."
The Yunhap News Agency reported that Incheon police arrested a 34-year old South Korean man on charges of assault and violating the aviation security act, but that he was later released because he was too intoxicated to be interrogated. He will be summoned at a later date for further investigation.
Let's just hope this guy isn't a "Repeat Offender." (Awwww, just couldn't resist.)
