Change and cancellation fees are back for Spirit Airlines' cheapest fare type
After dropping change and cancellation fees in 2024, Spirit Airlines reimposed fees for its Go fares as of Feb. 5.
"For our unbundled Go travel option, change and cancel fees will apply to reservations booked on or after Feb. 5, 2025," a Spirit spokesperson told TPG. "Change and cancel fees do not apply to Go Big, Go Savvy and Go Comfy."
As we first reported last week, Spirit reintroduced change and cancellation fees for unbundled Go travel option bookings as follows:
- $59 for modifying travel within 31 to 59 days
- $79 for modifying travel within seven to 30 days
- $99 for modifying travel within seven days
- $99 for canceling Go fares
There is no fee for modifying Go fares 60 or more days ahead of departure.

The budget airline's Go fares are equivalent to basic economy fares on major carriers like American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, which have all eliminated change and cancel fees for fares excluding basic economy.
Bundled Go fares, specifically Go Big, Go Comfy and Go Savvy, remain exempt from change and cancellation fees. All travelers, regardless of fare type, will be offered a travel credit for cancellations made within 24 hours of booking.
Otherwise, travelers will receive a reservation credit for any fare difference that's valid for trips booked within 90 days of issuance. You can also apply these credits to bag and seat fees.
