Over the past few months, Uber's been rolling out special promotions for customers in certain cities to ride at a discounted, flat rate for a set period of time. And now, Lyft is following its competitor's lead and offering its riders a different take on the flat rate with Lyft Line Passes.

With the Lyft Line Pass, you can ride up to 20 times in one month (November 1 through November 30, 2016) for a flat rate. There are two options available:

  • Pass 1: $2 rides — Pay $20 up front and every Line ride will cost $2 (up to 20 rides)
  • Pass 2: Free rides — Pay $29 up front and your Line rides are free (up to 20 rides)

Note that while this could be a very valuable promotion, especially for the frequent Lyft rider, it's currently only available in Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, Chicago, Atlanta and Washington, D.C. It's also worth noting that these passes are good only for Line rides, which is Lyft's version of UberPool, meaning you may have to share the car with one or more passengers. In addition, each of the rides as part of this pass can't exceed $20, and if they do, the credit card synced to your account will automatically be charged once the ride has ended.

This could be a pretty lucrative deal — especially if you can maximize by taking the 20 rides, each for a total of close to $20. If you expect you'll to be able to do that, you're best off opting for Pass 2, where each ride will only cost you $1.45. To sign up for either of the two passes, visit Lyft's website and select which you'd like to add to your account. If you're thinking about taking advantage, act soon, as there are only a limited number of passes available, and they're only available for purchase through Monday.
