Two co-branded Hilton Honors credit cards have been offering higher-than-usual sign-up bonuses since early October, but they won't be around for much longer. If you're considering applying for the Hilton Honors Surpass Card from American Express or the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card, you'll want to do so sooner than later to score the extra rewards for meeting each offer's minimum spending requirement.

Hilton Honors Surpass Card

100,000 points could get you a free night at the Conrad Tokyo. Image courtesy of the hotel.

As a reminder, this card is currently offering a sign-up bonus of 100,000 Honors points after you spend $3,000 in the first three months of cardmembership. Based on TPG's latest valuations, that rewards haul is worth $500, and based on the Hilton award chart it's also enough for a free night at a top-tier Category 10 property.

This card has a $75 annual fee, and it earns you 12x points (a 6% return) on Hilton stays. You'll also earn 6x points at US restaurants, US supermarkets and US gas stations and 3x points on all other purchases. As a cardholder, you get complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status, which gets you a 25% points bonus and late checkout among other benefits. Plus, if you spend $40,000 on the card in a calendar year, you'll be upgraded to Honors Diamond status.

This is a no-fee card, which makes its current sign-up offer of 75,000 points (after you spend $2,000 in the first three months) all the more generous. You could use those Honors rewards to book a free night at a Category 8 property, or you could stretch them further by redeeming them at a lower-level hotel (the same holds true for the Hilton Surpass card discussed above, of course).

You'll earn 6x points on Hilton stays with this card, in addition to 3x points at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations and 2x on everything else. You also get complimentary Honors Silver status, with the ability to upgrade to Gold after you spend $20,000 on the card in a calendar year. Finally, you get an annual loyalty bonus of 10,000 Honors points (worth $50 based on TPG's valuations) each year that you spend at least $1,000 on stays within the Hilton portfolio.

It's unclear exactly when this bonus is ending, but since it launched around the same time as the Hilton Surpass Amex, to be on the safe side we can assume it will end within a similar timeframe as well.

Bottom Line

Both of these cards are currently offering solid opportunities to boost your Honors rewards balances, so if you're planning an award stay, you might want to consider applying. The ability to enjoy elite status perks with either could also make these cards worthwhile for some travelers. You have a limited time to apply for the Hilton Surpass Card and earn the 100,000-point bonus, and while we don't have an exact date for the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card, it's likely that the 75,000-point offer will end around that time, too.

How would you redeem these HHonors points?
