Pedal your way to a Park Hyatt award redemption? It seems Hyatt is making that possible.

The hotel company behind brands like Park Hyatt, Andaz and Thompson Hotels rolled out a program Wednesday that allows World of Hyatt members the ability to earn points when they use Peloton equipment at participating hotels. The Peloton partnership will mean more than 800 Hyatt properties will be outfitted with fitness equipment by year's end.

If you're hoping to earn enough points from back-to-back Cody Rigsby classes to redeem on a Park Hyatt Kyoto getaway, don't clip into those pedals quite yet. There aren't too many specifics yet on when Peloton will be integrated for earning points. Hyatt's release notes loyalty members should "stay tuned" as to when the integration will kick off and allow riders to earn points on qualifying Peloton Bike or Peloton Row workouts.

World of Hyatt members new to Peloton can enjoy a free 60-day trial of the Peloton app, as well as special offers on Peloton equipment.

Additionally, guests won't necessarily have to leave their hotel room to enjoy a Peloton workout: More than 400 participating hotels will offer curated Peloton workouts via in-room TVs. The non-equipment-based Peloton classes will also be offered to conference and corporate meeting attendees; however, it isn't clear if the non-equipment-based classes will also be included in the points earning.

"Hyatt takes pride in setting a new standard of wellbeing for travel with new collaborations, products and experiences across our global portfolio that invite guests to lean into the transformative power of travel," TJ Abrams, Hyatt's vice president of well-being, said in a statement. "Dedicated to caring for our guests and members so they can be their best, Hyatt is coming together with Peloton as the first hospitality brand with plans to reward its members for workouts at participating hotels everywhere Peloton operates."

The brand competition heats up

While Hyatt is sparse on what the points earnings will look like per workout, this is a compelling reward in Hyatt's favor. Hilton made a splash in 2022 over plans to park a Peloton bike in nearly every Hilton-associated hotel in the U.S.; however, guests don't earn Hilton Honors points from pedaling as they would with World of Hyatt points at a competing Hyatt property down the road.

Hyatt's plan for the Peloton bike partnership is to install bikes at Hyatt hotels where Peloton operates, including those in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Australia. Select luxury and lifestyle hotels in the U.S. will also get the Peloton Row machine.

"With Hyatt, we are enabling new audiences to experience Peloton's cutting-edge technology and world-class content for themselves, and giving existing Peloton Members more of what they love while on the go," Greg Hybl, a senior vice president and general manager of Peloton for Business, said in a statement. "Being able to maintain a wellness routine while traveling is difficult for everyone. Our goal is to continue to find innovative ways to instill a little motivation so everyone can take some time for themselves, even if they are far from home."

Both Hyatt and Hilton reported at their respective Peloton launches that travelers are increasingly factoring in health and wellness amenities when booking a hotel. The rollout also comes amid a flurry of activities where brands are thinking outside the box for partnerships — sometimes at the expense of Hyatt in recent months.

Hyatt's partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World ends later this month, as the smaller collection of high-end hotels has decided to partner with Hilton. Marriott is now the hotel loyalty and brand partner for MGM Resorts, which had partnered with Hyatt until last year.

Hyatt isn't down for the count, though. The company last week rolled out the first batch of more than 700 Mr & Mrs Smith hotels that will now participate in the World of Hyatt ecosystem — more than offsetting the pending loss of SLH properties. Now, the company offers a loyalty competitive advantage with Peloton.

Shed calories while earning points for a luxe getaway or upgrade? Now, that's my kind of multitasking.
