Canada’s Flair Airlines adds 2 major US destinations
Canada's Flair Airlines is making big moves in the Big Apple and the Windy City.
The ultra-low-cost carrier is adding flights from Toronto (YYZ) to New York City's Kennedy (JFK) and Chicago's O'Hare (ORD) Airports.
Service to JFK begins on April 7 and will initially be twice weekly, with flights ramping up to four times weekly on May 16. Service to ORD begins on May 17 and will be three times a week. Flair operates an all-Boeing 737 fleet.
"We're working hard to continue our rapid expansion into the U.S., and we're delighted to announce these exciting new U.S. destinations," said Garth Lund, Flair's chief commercial officer, in a statement. "Flair's ultra-low fares will make it easier to take in a Broadway show in New York or enjoy a beautiful summer's day on Lake Michigan in Chicago. Whatever the reason you travel, Flair will get you there affordably."
Flair will be the first Canadian airline to operate the JFK-YYZ route since Air Canada exited the airport in 2016, according to Cirium schedule data. American Airlines ended that route in 2019, and Delta Air Lines suspended it in 2020. Delta is set to resume JFK-YYZ in June. At O'Hare, Flair will face competition on the route from United, Air Canada and American.

One-way fares on both routes start at $109 CAD ($85 USD) and are bookable now on Flair's website.
Flair's new routes to New York and Chicago are the latest in its massive U.S. growth. It flew its first flights south of the border in October 2021, and in addition to JFK and ORD, currently services or has announced service to Phoenix (AZA), Nashville (BNA), Burbank (BUR), Denver (DEN), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Orlando (SFB) and San Francisco (SFO), according to Cirium.
