Disney's Blizzard Beach reopens soon with new 'Frozen' makeover
Disney's Blizzard Beach water park has been closed for refurbishment since January 2022. Today, Disney finally set a reopening date for the park — and shared some even more exciting news.

If you've ever visited Blizzard Beach, you'll know it's one of the most uniquely-themed water parks families can visit. Disney World's Imagineers dreamed up a creative backstory for the water park and designed something you'll likely never live to see in hot and humid Florida – a ski resort, albeit with polar-themed rides and attractions.
A water park that's already covered in snow and ice is a perfect showcase for characters from Disney's mega-hit animated film "Frozen," and that's just what Disney's been up to during the park's months-long closure.
When Blizzard Beach reopens to guests on Nov. 13, 2022, kids can splash, slide and play in front of Anna and Elsa's icy igloo castle with "Frozen" characters like Olaf and his adorable friends, the Snowgies.
Cute characters aside, Blizzard Beach is home to some serious thrills and record-holding attractions. Guests brave enough to tackle Summit Plummet — a 120-foot-tall, ski-jump-themed waterslide — can reach speeds of up to 65 mph. That's equal to the top speed on Epcot's Test Track, making them the fastest two rides at Disney World.
At 3,000 feet long, Blizzard Beach's lazy river, Cross Country Creek, is one of the longest in the country. It can take up to 30 minutes to traverse the entire length, but there are multiple stops along the way if you want to hop off and challenge your friends to a race down the park's Toboggan Racers slalom-style slide.
Disney will be bringing back favorite Blizzard Beach treats like the Sand Pail Sundae (the bowl and spoon are actually a pail and shovel that you can keep), but they are also introducing new fun, frozen treats like the adults-only Orange Slope Dole Whip Swirl and a Melt-A-Way Margarita.
To visit Blizzard Beach water park on your next Disney World vacation, you can either purchase a one-day water park ticket or a theme park ticket that includes the Park Hopper Plus option or Water Park and Sports option. Unlike Disney's theme parks, you do not need to choose the date of your visit ahead of time and water park reservations are not required.

Blizzard Beach's reopening on Nov. 13 will also mark the beginning of a temporary closure for Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park. The park will undergo its own refurbishment and reopen at a later date.
