The Curtis Denver has always been known as a cheeky, playful and pop-culture-infused hotel where each floor is fully committed to a different theme. It also happens to be a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, maybe even one of the most unique in the entire DoubleTree portfolio.

Now, the downtown Denver hotel — and its signature "Stay Happy" design — is about to embark on a multimillion-dollar refresh that will revamp, restyle and shake up what you should expect during stays at this Hilton Honors property.

THE CURTIS HOTEL

Reimagined by Sage Studio, part of Sage Hospitality Group (operator of hotels like the Shinola in Detroit and Perry Lane in Savannah, Georgia), the change will include a total makeover of every floor, all guest rooms and suites, plus meeting and event spaces.

Each floor will offer a truly over-the-top "hyper-themed suite," as well, and floors will include the superstition-themed 13th floor with the Get a Clue suite; a circus floor with a Balancing Act suite; the You Better Werk floor with the Glam Squad suite; and an entire floor dedicated to food.

THE CURTIS HOTEL

"The Curtis has always been about fun," Lizzie Raudenbush, the hotel's general manager (also dubbed the chief happiness officer), told TPG. "But now we're turning up the creativity with bold new designs, unexpected details and a serious dose of personality. Whether you're a fan of quirky pop culture, bold patterns or just love a hotel that doesn't take itself too seriously, this refresh is all about bringing more joy, color and a little bit of nostalgia into the guest experience."

In rooms, guests should expect curated art, decorations and games matching the theme, like plaid decor, faux animals, glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling and even s'mores on the camp-themed floor. Plus, Raudenbush explained, there will also be interactive elements, new tech upgrades and "surprises around every corner."

The hotel's meeting areas and ballrooms will also take on new life with colorful accents like candy-striped walls, bright carpets, fun color-blocking and more. "With fun themes and a design that fosters collaboration, our meeting spaces will be where big ideas happen and serious work gets done — without taking itself too seriously," said Raudenbush.

The hotel will remain open during the renovation process, which is expected to be completed in late spring. Rates at The Curtis can be found for as low as $115 per night or 39,000 Hilton Honors points per night.
