Choice Privileges points can be useful for stays in expensive destinations, such as New York City or near ski resorts in the winter. The program also offers some unique redemption options. In this story, we'll explore some exciting ways to redeem Choice points.

Suites for no upcharge

You can book upgraded room types at many Choice properties for the same number of points as base-level rooms. For example, you could book a two-bedroom suite with a kitchen for the same points as a standard room at the Seafarer Inn & Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection, in Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Nordic properties that include dinner

Stays at Clarion Collection properties in Norway and Sweden include breakfast and a light evening buffet. Even when redeeming Choice points, you can still enjoy these complimentary meals.

If you're looking for a Choice hotel that includes breakfast and a light dinner, consider the following hotels:

  • Bergen, Norway: Clarion Collection Hotel Havnekontoret in Bergen for 16,000 points per night
  • Stockholm, Sweden: Clarion Collection Hotel Tapto for 16,000 points per night and Clarion Collection Hotel Wellington for 20,000 points per night

Multi-bedroom vacation rentals

You can book some Bluegreen Vacations resorts using Choice points. At the time of publishing, you can book various two-bedroom suites at the Bluegreen Vacations Fountains, Ascend Resort Collection, in Orlando on most dates.

When you book through Choice, you must book a stay of two nights or longer at most Bluegreen Vacations resorts. As such, you won't see any availability if you search for a one-night stay.

Stay in the middle of Venice, Italy

Prices are high this summer in much of Europe, and Venice is no exception. However, you can stay in Venice's Santa Croce district at the Hotel Aquarius Venice, Ascend Hotel Collection, for 30,000 Choice points on weeknights and 35,000 points on weekends.

You can even enter the hotel from the canal through a water door.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts

Through a Choice Privileges partnership, you can book stays at more than 300 participating Preferred Hotels & Resorts for 20,000 to 87,000 points per night. One hotel that immediately stood out to me is Chateau Elan, an upscale resort in north Georgia where I played golf when I was younger; you can book it for 67,000 Choice points per night.

Many participating properties aren't accessible via other types of hotel points. You can see the full list of participating properties and book your stay here.

Unique experiences

Finally, you can also redeem Choice points for experiences. The experiences vary by season and are frequently added and removed. But we've previously seen college sports experiences, NASCAR experiences and concerts on offer. Some experiences cost a set amount of points, while Choice offers others via an auction.

Bottom line

The Choice Privileges program offers plenty of value. If you need more points for your next redemption, see our guide on how to earn Choice points. If you don't need the points immediately, you may prefer to apply for a new Choice Privileges credit card. The Choice Privileges® Select Mastercard® ($95 annual fee) currently offers 60,000 bonus points when you spend $3,000 in purchases in the first three months, while the Choice Privileges® Mastercard® (no annual fee), offers 40,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first three months.
