Still sitting on a British Airways eVoucher obtained due to COVID-19?

The United Kingdom flag carrier has extended the validity of these eVouchers, meaning you can now use them for travel completed (including departure and return) before Sept. 30, 2024, rather than the previously stated deadline of Sept. 30, 2023.

The extension applies to eVouchers issued as part of the airline's Book With Confidence policy during the pandemic. The value of the voucher will be the equivalent of the money you paid for your ticket, including any extras you paid for, such as seat selection and luggage.

You can use the eVouchers to pay for flights, for either the full fare or as a part payment, though you can't currently redeem them on the previously mentioned extras or for online bookings with BA Holidays.

Not sure if you have lingering eVouchers? Visit British Airways' website and sign up to receive voucher balance updates.

It can't hurt to look, right? Especially since BA's owner, International Airlines Group, revealed last month that the company — which also owns Aer Lingus, Iberia, Level and Vueling — was sitting on around 600 million euros (roughly $657 million) in unclaimed vouchers. That's a lot of untaken flights.

All that said, if your flight was canceled between March 9, 2020, and Nov. 19, 2020, and you originally requested an eVoucher from the airline that you've yet to use, you don't have to spend it.

In this case, passengers are also still entitled to a cash refund, which they must claim by Sept. 30, 2024. To request a cash refund, use this form for each eVoucher.

If the canceled flight was partially paid for with Avios, you'd be able to claim those points back, too.

Not sure if you're entitled? Check your emails, as BA should have contacted you with refund options for each eVoucher you have. The eVoucher's numerical code should start with "125."
