A former Northwest/Delta Air Lines training facility in the suburbs of Minneapolis is slated to be demolished in the coming weeks. However, before the demolition, everything inside the facility is being auctioned off, from everyday office equipment to treasures such as full-scale flight simulators. As part of the auction, you can bid to purchase a flight simulator for a wide variety of aircraft, including McDonnell Douglas DC-9s, Boeing 757s and, perhaps the most compelling, Boeing 747s.

The current high bid for a Boeing 747-200 is $800.

We're seeing high bids for a 747 as low as $550, while one DC-9 is currently hovering at $2,600. Considering new simulators are priced well into 7-figure territory, a couple thousand dollars seems like quite the steal. Keep in mind that these simulators are quite dated, and several don't look the best on the inside. Some of the required equipment is being sold separately, too, so make sure you're bidding for everything you need if you plan to restore and operate one of these simulators.

Regardless, having the opportunity to buy a flight simulator and stick it in your basement doesn't come around all that often, so this auction is definitely worth a look if you're in the market for a piece of aviation history. The auction began September 29 and will continue until October 13 or 14, depending on the item. You can bid online or by visiting the flight training center in Eagan, Minnesota.
