Apple's betting that the color of the spring season will be yellow.

The tech giant formally unveiled its latest addition to the iPhone 14 lineup Tuesday: a brand-new yellow finish for the entry-level models.

The yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available to preorder starting Friday. The device will hit stores (and your mailbox) March 14.

In advance of the launch, TPG had some hands-on time with the new iPhones — and the yellow finish is definitely Apple's boldest one yet.

Though it's not as mustard-yellow as the iPhone XR was back in 2018, the yellow finish on the iPhone 14 adds a nice pop of color to the rest of the company's entry-level smartphone lineup. The lineup includes midnight, blue, starlight, purple and (Product)Red finishes.

That said, the shade of yellow on the iPhone 14 is definitely brighter and more vivid than Apple's last yellow smartphone — the iPhone 11 in 2019.

In addition to the yellow iPhone 14 finish, Apple's introducing new seasonal colors to its lineup of first-party cases; they will be available in canary yellow, olive, sky and iris starting next week.

It's worth noting that Apple isn't adding any new colors to its iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max lineup, which remains available in space black, silver, gold and deep purple.

While the yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus might look different on the outside, the devices pack all of the same features announced back in September when they first went on sale.

This includes advanced performance powered by the A15 Bionic chip, camera upgrades and incredible battery life.

In fact, everyday travelers will likely appreciate that the iPhone 14 Plus offers the longest-ever battery life in an iPhone, giving you up to 26 hours of video playback — perfect for powering through even the world's longest flight.

Other travel-focused enhancements include the introduction of the potentially life-saving Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite feature. The satellite feature is expanding later this month to include six more European countries — perfect timing for all your summer travel plans.

As with Apple's new smartphone lineup, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models sold in the U.S. no longer have a physical SIM card slot — a game-changing move for those who are frequently on the go and connect to multiple cellular networks while roaming.

The yellow iPhone will surely be a hit with travelers, and you can catch a full recap of the new devices on TPG's Instagram and TikTok channels.

Stay tuned for more, including a travel-focused review of the yellow iPhone 14.
