Amex Pop-Up Suggests New Centurion Lounge Opening at LAX

Update 12/11/16: I went to visit the pop-up lounge at the Tom Bradley International Terminal over the weekend, and it really isn't anything to get excited about. There aren't any amenities to speak of, besides a few power outlets and a variety of seating. It certainly isn't representative of what you'll find in an actual Centurion Lounge — it's simply a place to sit and pass the time before a flight.

Update 12/8/16 12:14pm: Amex has reached out with the following statement:
We recently opened a temporary pop-up lounge in the LAX international terminal to provide travelers with a retreat to relax in during the busy holiday travel season and raise further awareness for our premium Centurion Lounges across the country. This 65 x 20 sq feet location features premium seating and is free for all consumers to visit through February 2017. While many of our Card Members frequent LAX and we're always exploring opportunities for new lounge locations, we do not have any plans to share about bringing a permanent location to this airport.
From the Star Alliance Lounge in the international terminal to United's fantastic new Club at Terminal 7, Los Angeles International (LAX) has really been stepping up its lounge game. And if today's Amex pop-up is any indication, there are more good things to come.
A bit over a year ago, we learned that American Express was considering opening up a Centurion Lounge at LAX, likely to be located between terminals 6 and 7. It wasn't a done deal at the time, but that was 13 months ago — it's entirely possible that construction on such a space has already begun, with a new lounge opening in 2017.
TPG reader @CaddieTravels shared a picture today of a new pop-up at the Tom Bradley International Terminal. A sign identifies the space as "A touch of the Centurion Lounge," and while it doesn't look like much to get excited about on its own, it's certainly an indication that a full-blown LAX lounge is currently in the works.
Amex currently operates seven Centurion Lounges around the country, including a fantastic new location at IAH (pictured above). Given the originating, destination and connecting traffic at LAX, a lounge there could prove to be very popular.
As a reminder, you and two guests can get in for free with The Platinum Card from American Express, The Business Platinum Card from American Express Open or the American Express Centurion Card. All other Amex cardholders can access the lounges for $50 a day.
