Air France is expanding service to New York City with a route to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
The Paris-based airline will connect its hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Newark with daily service that is set to begin Dec. 12.
Air France served Newark until 2012, when the airline pulled out in favor of John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The Newark route joins Air France's six existing daily flights from JFK.
The 3,649-mile flight will be operated by a 280-passenger Boeing 777-200ER with 40 business-class seats, 24 premium economy seats and 216 economy-class seats. Regardless of the cabin, all passengers will enjoy seatback entertainment, power outlets and Wi-Fi available for purchase.
Newark becomes Air France's 18th destination in North America.
Air France's arrival adds a new SkyTeam option to get to Paris from Newark. Otherwise, the airport is a United Airlines hub and is well served across the Star Alliance network. United has daily service between Newark and Paris, and during peak travel times, United operates twice-daily service to Paris from Newark.
There's also low-cost, long-haul service to Paris from the airport. Budget carrier French bee operates regular service between Newark and Paris-Orly Airport (ORY). Additionally, La Compagnie operates all business class service between Newark and Orly with its Airbus A321 aircraft.
You can book flights on the new route on Air France's website.
