There's some competition in the skies when it comes to flying side by side. Last year, we saw both Emirates and Etihad release videos of their aircraft alongside other flying objects — in Emirates' case, two jetpack-equipped humans while Etihad used fighter jets. Air France is now joining in with a video promoting the retirement of its iconic 747 aircraft in formation with French Air Force Alphajets.

In the video clip above, you can see detailed footage of the flight, which consisted of the airline's last Boeing 747 accompanied by eleven Alphajets from the Patrouille de France. The formation is really a spectacle worth seeing — even though it's nowhere as exciting as the Emirates video — as two jewels of French aviation fly over France's Camargue region.
