The Chase Ultimate Rewards program allows travelers to redeem their rewards in various ways. But one of the most valuable ways to redeem Chase points is via Ultimate Rewards' airline and hotel transfer partners. One of these transfer partners is IHG One Rewards.

However, some Chase transfer partners offer more valuable rewards than others. So, here's everything you should know if you're considering transferring Chase points to IHG One Rewards.

How to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG One Rewards

If you have at least one Chase credit card that earns transferable Ultimate Rewards points, you can redeem your rewards by transferring them to select airline or hotel programs that partner with the Ultimate Rewards program. One of these partner programs is IHG One Rewards.

You can transfer Chase points to IHG in increments of 1,000 via the Chase website or app. Transfers are final, though, so ensure you are certain you want to transfer Chase points to IHG before completing the transfer.

Can you transfer Chase points to IHG?

You can transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards if you have select Chase cards that earn transferable Ultimate Rewards points, including:

You can combine rewards across all your Ultimate Rewards cards — including Ultimate Rewards cards like the Chase Freedom Flex® (see rates and fees) and the Chase Freedom Unlimited® (see rates and fees) that earn cash-back rewards — into a single account. If the account you use to collect your rewards earns transferable Ultimate Rewards points, then all the rewards in that account are transferable.

So, if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Freedom Unlimited, you can combine the rewards you earn on your Freedom Unlimited into your Sapphire Preferred account. Then, you could transfer any or all of the rewards in your Chase Sapphire Preferred account to IHG One Rewards (or any of the other Chase transfer partners).

Chase to IHG transfer ratio

The Chase-to-IHG transfer ratio is 1:1. However, you can only transfer Chase points in increments of 1,000.

For every 1,000 Chase points you transfer, you'd get 1,000 IHG points. Based on TPG's January 2026 valuations, 1,000 Chase points are worth $20.50 while 1,000 IHG points are worth $5. That's a significant difference, although you may receive more or less value when redeeming IHG points, depending on your specific redemption.

Chase occasionally offers transfer bonuses. During such bonuses, you may be able to transfer points from Chase to IHG at a higher ratio.

When should you transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards?

Now that you know how to transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards, the question is: When should you transfer Chase points to IHG?

The answer to this question varies from person to person and depends on many different factors. But, considering that Chase points are more than four times as valuable as IHG points based on TPG's January 2026 valuations, many award travelers would tell you that you should not transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards.

In fact, it's my personal belief that you usually shouldn't transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards for two reasons. Firstly, other Chase transfer partners can provide much more value per Chase point. One of these partners is World of Hyatt, which offers award nights starting at just 3,500 points per night. Additionally, you can usually purchase IHG points for as little as 0.5 cents each several times a year.

So, I prefer to buy IHG points during 100% bonus sales for 0.5 cents each. And I prefer to transfer my Chase points to other transfer partners, such as World of Hyatt and Air Canada Aeroplan.

This doesn't mean it will never be the right move for someone to transfer Chase points to IHG, though. For example, if you're just a few thousand points shy of being able to book an IHG award night or stay, it could make sense to transfer Chase points to IHG to complete the booking. However, in most cases, you'll get more value from your points when you use other Chase transfer partners. Or, if you really want to book an IHG hotel with Chase points, you may get better value by redeeming Chase points through the Chase Travel℠ portal for a paid stay.

Bottom line

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are the most valuable credit card rewards currency, according to TPG's January 2026 valuations. And the Chase transfer partners are some of the best ways to get outsize value from your points.

It's possible to get plenty of value when redeeming IHG points, but the low value of IHG One Rewards points (0.5 cents each based on TPG's January 2026 valuations) compared to other Chase transfer partners makes IHG One Rewards one of the weaker options for transferring Chase points. As such, you'll usually want to transfer your Chase points to other transfer partners.
