If you are sitting on a boatload of Hilton points — or looking to increase your balance to book a much-needed vacation — you might be wondering just where to go, especially with so many options. From all-inclusive beachfront resorts and overwater bungalows to city escapes, Hilton has many different types of accommodations around the world.

Maybe knowing how others have redeemed their points can give you some ideas? Call it a little inspiration to jumpstart your search.

Hilton shared with TPG the top properties where Hilton Honors members have redeemed their points. We'll list the 15 most popular properties by region and provide some insight on how to boost your current account balance.

Americas

In the Americas, you'll find that the most popular redemptions were in the United States. You'll notice that luxurious beach destinations were quite common, especially in Florida.

There are also two resorts in Mexico on the list, but you won't find any Caribbean properties. Unfortunately, Hilton doesn't have a huge presence in the Caribbean — yet — but that is starting to change with more properties opening in the region.

Most of the beach resorts range between 67,000 to 95,000 points per night, but you can also stay in some popular properties in great vacation locations for as low as 29,000 points per night.

Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Hilton has many properties throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, but you'll notice that some of the more popular ones are in Western Europe, and particularly, London. Since paid rates are quite expensive in this part of the world, it's no surprise to see that points are used quite often.

What's surprising is that none of these properties are at the highest end of Hilton's award chart. This makes it even easier to stay at a popular hotel on points, especially if you are looking to travel to Turkey, where the two hotels on the list cost just 5,000 points per night.

Asia-Pacific

The Asia-Pacific region houses some of Hilton's most inspirational properties, such as the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and Conrad Bora Bora Nui.

Although most properties require a boatload of points per night, rates at these two resorts are incredibly expensive, making point redemptions the only way to feasibly travel there without truly breaking the bank. And if you combine your points stay with your fifth night free from having one of the Hilton credit cards (more on that below), then your cost per night ends up being significantly more reasonable.

You'll also find many more reasonable points opportunities, especially in China, Thailand and Malaysia.

How to earn Hilton points

If you travel often, one of the most straightforward ways to earn Hilton Honors points is by staying at a brand within the Hilton chain. But, if you aren't a frequent traveler and prefer to redeem points right out of the gate, one of the easiest ways to earn points without even stepping foot into a hotel room is through one of the many Hilton co-branded credit cards.

Hilton currently offers four different credit cards, all with healthy welcome bonus offers to allow you to increase your account balance quickly.

  • Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card: 180,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 in the first six months of card membership.
  • Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card:170,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in the first six months of card membership.
  • Hilton Honors American Express Business Card: Earn 130,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after you spend $3,000 in purchases on the Hilton Honors Business card within the first three months of card membership.
  • Hilton Honors American Express Card: Earn 100,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 in the first six months of card membership.

The information for the Hilton Aspire Card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Each card offers its own earning rates and benefits. This will help you earn even more points on every purchase you make, enabling you to redeem points quicker for that inspirational stay. All four cards also offer complimentary Hilton elite status — albeit different status levels depending on the card — which will give you special perks during your stay and allow you to receive your fifth night free when redeeming points. Check our guide to see which Hilton credit card is the best for your needs.

Aside from staying at a Hilton hotel and having a Hilton co-branded credit card, you can also earn points by transferring American Express Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio, through the Hilton Honors Dining program and riding with Lyft.
