If a trip to wine country is on your to-do travel list, but you've been to Napa Valley or you think it might be a bit too expensive, consider Mexico. Valle de Guadalupe is renowned for its wine region, which is packed with wonderful vineyards. It's also incredibly easy to get to, especially with this airfare deal.

Aeromexico is having a big sale on economy tickets to Tijuana (TIJ) from a number of U.S. departure cities. Tijuana's airport is the closest to the Guadalupe Valley, which is 65 miles away. Many of the best fares involve an overnight flight as part of the trip, so keep that in mind if you don't like red-eye flights.

Most of the best prices are for travel in April and May, but there are some huge bargains to be found in August. In fact, we can't believe how cheap some flights are that month. Don't wait too long to book; these fares will probably not be around for more than a couple of days.

Thanks to Scott's Cheap Flights for tipping us off to this deal. Basic membership is available for $49 per year. The Elite tier option is available for $199 per year, and that will get you access to deals on premium economy, business-class and first-class tickets. Until March 31, TPG readers can use the promo code TPG25 and save 25% on a premium membership.

Sample flights

Flights from Dallas (DFW) to Tijuana (TIJ) were some of the best deals we saw in this sale. We found this round-trip ticket in April with a layover in Mexico City for only $153.

We found the same crazy low price for travel in August. Please note that the return flights for both itineraries are overnight. Aeromexico economy fares come with a free carry-on bag. If you want to check a bag, it will cost you around $30 each way.

San Francisco (SFO) to Tijuana is also available at more than 50% off the typical price. Again, it's an economy seat with a 3.5 hour layover in Mexico City and the outbound flight is an overnight journey. But still, $216 for a round-trip ticket is nothing to sneeze at.

You can book a ticket from New York City (JFK) to Tijuana in May for only $304, a big reduction from normal prices. You know the drill by now. It involves an overnight flight out of New York and a stop in Mexico City.

Finally, if you live in Miami, you can score a killer deal in July to Valle de Guadalupe. We found fares from MIA to Tijuana for $235, more than 60% off usual prices.

Bottom line

Baja California's reputation for producing great wine has gained a lot of attention in recent years. As TPG spotlighted recently, there are more than a hundred wineries in the region and the food is also top-notch. This deal gives you the chance to experience what others have discovered at big savings.
