Book it: Fly to St. Croix from Newark, New York City from $252 round-trip
St. Croix is quite a versatile tropical destination. Its white-sand beaches and rum distilleries make it the perfect place to kick back and soak in the Caribbean vibes, while its diverse culinary options make it a foodie paradise. If you want a more active vacation, you can enjoy hiking and excellent diving opportunities.
So, this new fare sale to the largest of the main U.S. Virgin Islands is appealing to many types of travelers.
American Airlines and Delta Air Lines reduced prices on flights to St. Croix from the New York City area for travel in late spring as well as late 2024 and early 2025. The travel window for this deal is from April to May of this year and December through February of 2025. The best availability involves flights out of New York City, but there are bargains to be found in Newark, too.
As with many fare sales, this one involves basic economy tickets. American and Delta both offer free carry-ons with their economy tier. Expect to pay around $35-$45 each way if you want to check luggage.

Sample flights
We found several itineraries in early May between New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) in St. Croix for just $253 round-trip on American. This is less than half what you would normally pay for this ticket.

Here's another option from New York City to St. Croix for the same low price.

After May, we didn't really see any more big discounts for this route until we looked at the end of the 2024 calendar. That's where we found some truly stellar savings, like this round-trip route from JFK to STX in early December on American for only $295.

According to Google Flights, that flight during the holiday season should cost more than $700, making this an epic markdown.

You won't save quite as much money if you fly in January, but you can still find some bargains. American has sub-$300 round-trip tickets in case you want to shake off the post-holiday doldrums with a getaway to the tropics.

What about February, you ask? We found decent availability on round-trip flights between New York City and St. Croix for $252 in February.

Most of the best fares we found in this deal were for flights out of JFK. However, Delta does have a few bargains out of Newark. You can fly Delta from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to St. Croix in January for $316 round-trip, which is a significant discount from what this route typically costs.

The same route is even cheaper in February — just $265.

- Citi Strata Premier® Card (see rates and fees): 3 points per dollar spent on air travel
Bottom line
Many flights in this deal are almost $500 cheaper than usual. Plus, there is so much to explore in St. Croix that it's worth booking a trip, no matter what kind of traveler you are.
Once you get to St. Croix, make some time to book the Hamilton walking tour. It tells you all about young Alexander Hamilton's time living in Christiansted, and how it would affect the future Founding Father's life.
