Spain deal alert: Visit Barcelona and Madrid for as low as $447 round-trip
A new fare sale is offering significant savings on flights to Spain during one of the most desirable times of the year. This deal is for flights to evergreen travel favorites Barcelona and Madrid from Texas.
Not only did we find great prices during our search, but the timing of this deal is great: The travel window is from October 2024 through March 2025. October and November are great months to plan a visit to Spain, as the crowds thin out and the weather is mild and pleasant.
A number of airlines, including American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia and United Airlines, have flights from departure cities Austin and Houston.
The flights in this deal all have layovers and are basic economy tickets. A carry-on bag is included but checked luggage will cost around $70 to $75 per bag. Some routes may need to be booked with two separate one-way tickets instead of a round-trip fare.
Some of the lowest fares spotlighted in this deal may have to be booked through an online travel agency.

Sample flights
We found round-trip fares to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in November from $447 on British Airways. Please note the extended layover at London's Heathrow Airport (LHR) on the return flight.

British Airways also has itineraries from Austin to Madrid in early December for just $457 round-trip.

Flights to Barcelona are available at steep discounts in the fall. British Airways has round-trip itineraries to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) from AUS in late October and November from $453.

According to Google Flights, this route often costs more than double the price.

The same price is available for this route in January. To get this price, book a one-way ticket from AUS to BCN on British Airways, with a layover in London. Then, book the return flight on American.

In December, you can fly from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) BCN for less than $500 round-trip. You'll have to buy one-way tickets to get the lowest price, but it's certainly worth it.

United also has round-trip fares from Houston to Barcelona for $493 in early February.
