It's Southwest Airlines' birthday this week, and the airline is celebrating with the Wanna Get Away Day sweepstakes, giving flyers a chance to win up to 20 million Rapid Rewards points throughout the week.

Through Sunday, Southwest will unveil daily giveaways online, including discounted flights and bonus-points-earning opportunities for Rapid Rewards cardholders.

Deal basics

First, travelers can enroll to win a select number of Rapid Rewards bonus points daily, limited in quantity per day. No purchase is necessary. To participate, you must register online by 11:59 p.m. CDT on Sunday, be at least 19 years old and be a legal U.S. resident (excluding Alaska, Florida, New York and Rhode Island residents).

Additionally, Southwest has unveiled two other deals thus far, including a bonus-points-earning opportunity for Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card holders.

All Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card holders can earn up to 10 points per dollar, on up to $500, on Southwest purchases made through Sunday. These are bonus points stacked on regular earnings, including:

  • Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card: 2 points per dollar on Southwest purchases.
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card: 3 points per dollar on Southwest purchases.
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card: 3 points per dollar on Southwest purchases.

The information for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Travelers can also get up to 40% off base fares for fall flights that are booked by Thursday. Book online with the code "40OFF" for travel between Aug. 15 and Dec. 14. This deal is valid for travel booked by 11:59 p.m. PDT on Thursday. Blackout dates apply, including Nov. 16-27.
