Sample flights

Because Southwest generally does not disclose its sale routes, the quickest way to take advantage of this deal is by using the carrier's Low Fare Calendar to search your desired route with the promo code "MAX20," as shown below.

For example, you could book round-trip tickets for travel from Chicago's Midway International Airport (MDW) to Denver International Airport (DEN) in late August for less than $150. A green price tag and banner at the top indicate sale fares.

Southwest's Wanna Get Way and Wanna Get Away Plus fares are both on sale. As is always the case with any Southwest ticket, you can bring up to two checked bags at no extra cost, one carry-on and one personal item. You can also enjoy free inflight entertainment and messaging.

If you have a change of plans, you can change or cancel an itinerary up to 10 minutes before departure. However, if you cancel a Wanna Get Away trip, you will receive a flight credit in lieu of a refund.

This sale includes flights across the Southwest network (except for SNA, which serves the Orange County area) for travel through November. Search your desired routes for up to 20% off flights.

Maximize your purchase

If you book this deal (or any flight), use a credit card that earns bonus points on airfare purchases, such as:

  • Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card: 2 points per dollar spent on Southwest purchases
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card: 4 points per dollar spent on Southwest purchases
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card: 3 points per dollar spent on Southwest purchases
  • American Express® Gold Card: 3 points per dollar spent on airfare when booked directly with the airline or through amextravel.com
  • The Platinum Card® from American Express: 5 points per dollar spent on airfare when booked directly with the airline or through American Express Travel® (on up to $500,000 of these purchases per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar)
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve®: 8 points per dollar on all Chase Travel℠ purchases and 4 points per dollar on flights booked directly through the airline
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: 2 points per dollar spent on travel

The information for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Bottom line

This sale applies to both cash and points bookings on Southwest flights and is valid for flights that will take place throughout fall. Book by Sunday, June 30, to save.
