Grab your flip-flops and get ready to hit the beach in Mexico with a new fare sale offering great prices to Baja California Sur.

Delta Air Lines has cut prices on a number of flights to the dreamy destination San Jose del Cabo, known for its fabulous beaches, golf courses and charming architecture. Most of the discounted fares are for flights between February and April of this year. There are plenty of available flights from West Coast cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, but New York City is also part of this sale.

Just like with most travel deals, the sale is for economy-class fares. Delta Air Lines' basic economy tickets come with a free carry-on bag, but checking a bag is an additional cost.

Let's begin with a couple of itineraries out of New York City. We found lots of discounted fares in March and April.

For example, you can book a ticket in March out of New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) for $365 round-trip. It's a basic economy ticket, which means you get a free carry-on. You fly nonstop to San Jose del Cabo, but you'll have a layover in Atlanta on your return flight.

Here's another fare we found. This April itinerary is $465 round-trip, more than $700 cheaper than you normally would pay for this route. So, if the time frame works for you, jump on this quickly and lock in a big discount.

West Coast travelers have lots of options in this deal. For example, you can score a nonstop basic economy ticket from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to San Jose del Cabo in March for just $293 round-trip.

These prices from Seattle to Mexico are not common, so this is a sale to really take advantage of. We also found the same $293 price for nonstop flights out of Seattle to San Jose del Cabo in April.

If you live in Los Angeles, you can fly from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) in mid-March for just $214 round-trip. That's a great deal, especially for a nonstop flight.

We found more good prices out of Los Angeles in late April, like this $245 fare for a nonstop flight. Again, it's a basic economy ticket, but you're heading to the beach, so you should be able to get away with just using a carry-on bag.

If you live in San Francisco, you can fly out of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) in March to San Jose del Cabo for just $306 round-trip. This itinerary includes a layover each way.

If you live in the Bay Area and April is a better month for your travel plans, you can book a ticket to San Jose del Cabo for just $321 round-trip. This is less than half of what this fare usually costs. It does involve a long layover each way, but the savings may be worth it.

Bottom line

While some fares in this deal include return flights around spring break, the best bargains are for flights in late February and early March. San Jose del Cabo is known for its more relaxed vibe, so if you're looking for a big nightlife scene and party atmosphere, Cabo San Lucas may be a better fit.

Be flexible with your travel plans. It will help you find the best possible fare price.
