From picturesque snowcapped mountains to abundant wildlife, Alaska is rich in natural beauty. The only thing better than traveling to Alaska is traveling to Alaska at a discounted flight price. Luckily, round-trip fares to several cities in the Last Frontier are now as low as $157.

Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are offering discounted fares to Juneau, Anchorage and Ketchikan from multiple cities in the U.S.; the West Coast has the most availability.

These cheap fares apply to travel from December to March, but there is also some additional availability from April to May and August to October for select routes.

Sample flights

With this set of discounted fares, you can travel to Alaska from various towns and cities in the Midwest, the South and the West Coast; there is some availability from East Coast cities, like New York, as well. Many of the flights have layovers in Seattle.

Here are some standout options:

  • Alaska and Delta: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Juneau International Airport (JNU), starting at $157.
  • Alaska: SEA to Ketchikan International Airport (KTN), starting at $188.
  • Delta: Boise Airport (BOI) to JNU, starting at $229 (includes a layover in Seattle).
  • Alaska: Portland International Airport (PDX) to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC), starting at $236.
  • Alaska and Delta: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to ANC, starting at $280 (includes a layover in Seattle).
  • Alaska: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to ANC, starting at $340.
  • Alaska: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to KTN, starting at $392 (includes a layover in Seattle).

We recommend using Google Flights to find your best dates, and then booking directly with the airline of your choice. Direct airline bookings are more reliable if your flight is delayed, canceled or has a booking change.

One of the lowest possible fares is a round-trip journey from Seattle to Juneau from Alaska and Delta. For a weeklong holiday trip, Alaska and Delta offer $157 fares to Juneau on Dec. 24.

For return flights, Alaska has one departing Juneau at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 — you’d land in Seattle right before New Year’s, with just a minute to spare.

All the fares featured in these offers apply to basic economy. Alaska’s basic economy option, known as the airline’s Saver fare, does not have seat selection and does not allow passengers to change their tickets.

Passengers flying with the Saver option will also have access to overhead bin space last, so if the flight is full, you may not have room to store your carry-on. Checking in one bag for a round-trip flight will also cost an additional $60 ($30 each way).

Bottom line

If visiting Alaska is on your bucket list, this is a great time to book your flights. Some of the travel dates fall in the winter, so you would need to pack some warm winter gear. Still, there are tons of things to do — from ice skating to skiing.

Plus, winter is one of the best times to see the northern lights in Alaska, making a trip to the Last Frontier all the more worthwhile.
