Marriott Bonvoy is currently running a global promotion where you can score bonus points and double elite night credits on your upcoming stays. However, advance registration is required and time is running out to do.

With this Marriott promotion, you’ll earn 1,000 bonus Marriott points per night, with no cap. Plus, you’ll get to fast-track Marriott elite status by earning an additional elite night credit for each night stayed. The promotion is valid for stays between Feb. 8 and May 4, 2022, but you must register by April 20, 2022.

Marriott’s latest promotion

This promotion is available to new and existing Marriott Bonvoy members. You’ll earn an unlimited 1,000 bonus points and double elite night credits on each night of your stay at almost all Marriott Bonvoy properties.

Based on TPG’s valuations of Marriott points at 0.8 cents each, you’d be getting an average $8 return per night. But the real value with this promotion lies in the bonus elite night credits. Although Marriott hasn’t reduced elite status requirements for 2022, this promotion allows you to earn elite status twice as fast.

As long as all of your stays are within the promotional period, you’ll be able to achieve status at the following thresholds:

  • Silver Elite: Five nights
  • Gold Elite: 13 nights
  • Platinum Elite: 25 nights
  • Titanium Elite: 38 nights
  • Ambassador Elite: 50 nights (though you’ll still need $20,000 in qualifying spending)

The promotion began on Feb. 8 and will run through May 4, 2022, so you can earn up to 85,000 bonus points and 85 bonus elite night credits if you maximize the 85-day earning period. To participate in the promotion, you must register here by April 20, 2022.

You’ll be able to earn the bonus at most participating Marriott Bonvoy hotel brands, however:

  • Homes & Villas by Marriott International, ExecuStay, Marriott Executive Apartments and Marriott Vacation Club owner-occupied weeks are not eligible. Ritz-Carlton Reserve, BVLGARI and other hotels that do not currently participate in Marriott Bonvoy are also excluded.
  • Only points-qualifying rates are eligible, so award stays and bookings made through a third-party site like the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal or Expedia won’t earn bonus points
  • Stays completed prior to registration are not eligible to earn bonus points or bonus elite night credits with this promotion
  • You must have your Marriott account set to earn points (not airline miles) to participate in the promotion

Other ways to earn Marriott points

Want to earn more points but don’t have any upcoming travel planned? No problem, there are plenty of ways to boost your Marriott points balance without stays. The easiest way to do so is through welcome bonuses and spending on Marriott cobranded credit cards (terms apply) — and some are offering the following welcome offers:

Bottom line

Marriott’s latest global promotion represents an amazing offer and you should definitely register even if you don’t yet have a Marriott reservation on your calendar. While the bonus points might not seem extraordinarily lucrative, the additional elite night credits are terrific for those chasing Marriott status.

If you’re able to maximize this promotion, you’ll be able to earn elite status twice as fast. This is especially useful considering Marriott didn’t make any broad adjustments to its elite status requirements this year like some other hotel programs.
