Save up to 40% on your next Marriott hotel stay with these new Amex Offers

Using offers on American Express credit cards is one of the best options for saving money and earning bonus points on everything from groceries to streaming services to travel.

If you are planning an upcoming hotel stay, you may want to stay at a Marriott Bonvoy property to take advantage of current Amex Offers that could save you as much as 40%.

Just be aware that many of Marriott's top brands are excluded from the promotion.

All American Express cards, including cobranded cards, come with access to Amex Offers, but the offers vary depending on your type of Amex card. If you have The Platinum Card® from American Express or the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, you may be targeted for different offers or offer amounts. We are seeing some enticing Marriott Bonvoy offers across multiple Amex card types right now.

Let's take a closer look at these offers and their terms.

Current Marriott Amex Offers

The current Marriott Amex Offers allow you to earn cash back in the form of a one-time statement credit. You just have to spend a minimum amount on one or more room rate and room charge purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties in the U.S. and U.S. territories, the Caribbean, Canada or Mexico between now and March 31.

The highest offer we've seen is a $150 statement credit when you spend $375 at a participating Marriott property. That's essentially the same as receiving a 40% discount on your room rate.

Another offer we've seen is a $100 statement credit when you spend $400 at a participating Marriott property. That's essentially the same as receiving a 25% discount on your room rate.

• Spend $500, get $100 back as a statement credit
• Spend $250, get $50 back as a statement credit

We are also seeing an interesting deal from Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy: The brand is offering $250 back after spending $1,000.

Note that these offers exclude online retail purchases, Marriott Bonvoy point purchases and gift card purchases.

Several brands, including Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, Edition, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, JW Marriott, Marriott Vacation Clubs, Design Hotels, Protea Hotels, Marriott Executive Apartments and Vistana Signature Experiences, are also excluded from the offers.

It's worth perusing the offers page of your different American Express cards to see if you're eligible for these targeted offers — though remember that the offer is triggered by a charge to your credit card, not the actual dates of your stay. For example, if you check in on March 31 but your card isn't charged until you check out, you would not qualify for these offers, as they expire March 31.

Additionally, American Express generally only allows you to earn these offers on one American Express card per account holder (including authorized users). While you may be able to add an offer to multiple American Express cards in some cases, you're likely to find that American Express will reverse the statement credit if you redeem the offer more than once.

Bottom line

New Marriott Amex Offers may allow you to enjoy up to $150 off eligible purchases at Marriott properties through March 31.

As always, adding this offer to your card is worthwhile, even if you don't have any immediate plans to stay at a Marriott Bonvoy hotel. By already having the offer linked to your card, you won't need to add the offer before checking in at a later date.

American Express will only show you 100 offers at a time, so if you add a few offers to your account, you may find something even better hiding in plain sight.
