The deals below are for basic economy flights from the airlines, which include a standard seat and carry on. A checked bag and seat selection will cost extra.
One of the most affordable offers we found was from Chicago (ORD) to Rome (FCO) for $408 round-trip. The departure is on United with a stop in Washington D.C. (IAD) and the return trip is via Air Canada with a stop in Montreal (YUL).
For a buck more, travelers can go to Rome (FCO) from Miami (MIA) on Air Canada at $409 round-trip. The departure has a short stop in Toronto (YYZ) and the return flight has one in Montreal (YUL).
There are flights on Air Canada and its partners from Newark (EWR) to Rome (FCO) at $420 round-trip. The one below is at the beginning of March, but fares are widely available at this price.
On the West Coast, travelers flying from Los Angeles (LAX) can get a flight to Rome (FCO) for $438 round-trip. The deal below is for a flight at the end of March. It has a stop in Newark (EWR) on the departure and there is a stop in Zurich (ZRH) on the return flight.
There is also a flight on Swiss Airlines from New York (JFK) to Rome (FCO) for $450 round-trip with a stop in Zurich (ZRH) each way.
