Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.
Hong Kong Airlines is at it again, offering flights to its base country for less than $350 round-trip. The airline operates a long-haul fleet consisting of brand new Airbus A350s, which should make for an enjoyable travel experience.
The booking process, unfortunately, isn't nearly as pleasurable — but at these rates, we won't complain. The lowest rates that consistently show on Google Flights hover around the $460 range, and if you select to only view flights by Hong Kong Airlines, the system sometimes will glitch up and say "price unavailable" before spitting out the cheapest rate. Sub-$350 flights are very limited, but there is a good amount of date availability around the $380 round-trip price range, and a lot of other airlines offer competitive rates between $458-$472 for much of the fall and winter months.
