Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.

American Airlines and its Oneworld partners are offering some really great fares from both the East and West Coast to two of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe — Paris and Milan. We're seeing airfares as cheap as $348 round-trip from New York to Milan non-stop. For a little more, there's also the direct flight from Boston to Paris for $386, as well as one-stop options from San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX) and Las Vegas (LAS).

Flights are available at this discounted price from the end of August through the end of the schedule in April 2018 — as always, use Google Flights to find the dates you want, then book on Orbitz, Expedia or directly with the airlines. Whichever destination you choose, there's always tons to do. If you're feeling undecided, here's five reasons why you should visit Milan. Otherwise, be sure to check out this list of 10 things to do in Paris that no one tells you about,
