Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.

Fares from New York and Boston to London are currently on sale from Norwegian Air, the discount carrier that brought low fares to the transatlantic market. We're seeing nonstop flights from New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS) to London (LGW) priced from just $309 round-trip. Better yet, when you get to London, you can expect reduced prices for everything from hotel stays to Uber rides. This sale starts in December, with discounted flights available through March 2017.

To get this low price, make sure you complete your booking through the Norwegian version of the website, by selecting your language as "Norge." Prices will be displayed in Norwegian Krone, but this booking method will result in a discount vs. booking through the English website. The Boston to London flight is priced at $309 (2550 NOK) on the Norwegian version of the site, compared with $325 if you book through the English version of the website.

Keep in mind that Norwegian is a low-cost carrier and will charge you for certain things that are not typically an additional cost on other airlines. However, even with these extra fees, the total cost is still significantly lower than what other carriers are charging for similar flights.
