Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.

Thinking about a warm destination while you're braving the cold of winter? You might consider booking a trip to the French Caribbean, and there's some terrific nonstop fares available right now on Norwegian. We're seeing flights from New York (JFK), Providence (PVD) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Martinique (FDF) and Guadeloupe (PTP) in the Lesser Antilles for just $178 round-trip.

These flights are available in January, February and March, though keep in mind that Norwegian doesn't fly these routes daily (and not every flight has this low fare available). But it's easy to use Google Flights to find the dates you want, then book on Orbitz, Expedia or directly with Norwegian itself.

Of course, Norwegian is a low-cost carrier so you won't be getting any frills with these fares, and make sure you're aware of all the requirements and possible extra fees you might find yourself subjected to. But TPG Assistant Editor Brenday Dorsey reviewed Norwegian on the JFK-FDF route this past June and wrote that it was "a better value for a better price since Norwegian offers free Wi-Fi, full-sized carry-ons and its food and drink options are super-affordable."
