Per The Flight Deal, Delta is offering some amazing deals from several west coast cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle to Tokyo-Haneda for this spring starting at just $600 round-trip.
Finding Airfares Using the ITA Matrix
One of the most useful tools for searching airfares quickly is the this post for tips on how to use it.
For a quick sampling, I searched airfares from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo- Haneda (HND) and was able to find these fares for 4-9 night stays starting at $601 in April.
You can click the actual date to see which flights are available for that price each-day, before heading to book these on another site, such as Orbitz.
Los Angeles- Tokyo-Haneda for $600.40 roundtrip on Delta
San Francisco-Tokyo-Haneda for $615.40 roundtrip on Delta
Reminder: You can bank extra credit card points by using a card that maximizes airfare purchases, like 3x on airfare with the American Express Premier Rewards Gold or 2x on the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Check out this post for more on maximizing airfare purchases.
These fares book into Delta's V class, so unfortunately they aren't upgradable unless you're a Delta Diamond Medallion member and have a Global Upgrade certificate to use. Since Delta recently switched to a revenue based loyalty program, as a SkyMiles member you would only earn around 2,575 SkyMiles, though you would earn 10,976 MQM's from Los Angeles to Tokyo-Haneda. This is an awesome deal since Spring is a great time to visit Asia. I was recently in Tokyo and had a great time! You can read my Hotel Review: Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills and 10 Reasons I Love Tokyo.
