Daily Getaways is a travel promotion sponsored by American Express, which sells travel packages and even points/miles at a discount. The promotion runs from April 11-May 13, but so far they've only released the first two weeks - the pickings already look good.

It starts out with Marriott certs at 11% off, then Avis 1 day car rentals for $33 - not bad if you can use them in expensive cities, like NYC. The Avis Chairman's membership is interesting, but at $1,115 for a year you'd have to rent a ton of cars to get the true value out of it. Still, it entitles you to the best car on the lot when you rent a mid-size vehicle, curbside drop-off at the airline terminal (an employee will drive with you and take the car back), fuel at street pricing, delivery of the car within 25 miles of the station and other customer service enhancements like fee waivers and free GPS.

What really has me excited is the Hyatt points purchase option. While it's certainly not as cheap as getting 25,000 free Hyatt points with the fee-waived Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, you can get them at reasonable prices, especially if you redeem at expensive hotels:
24,000 Gold Passport points for $250, 1 cent per point
30,000 Gold Passport points for $333. 1.1 cents per point
36,000 Gold Passport points for $415, 1.1 cents per point
69,000 Gold Passport points for $778, 1.1 cents per point

I'm not sure I want to blow $778 on Hyatt points because you don't earn elite status qualifying nights when you stay on awards (and I'm hellbent on requalifying for Diamond), but I'm thinking about it. I'll probably do 36,000 for $415 - that's two nights at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires - one of my favorite hotels, which routinely sells rooms for over $500 a night. However, the 69,000 point option would be more than enough for three nights at the Park Hyatt Maldives, where the rooms start at $1,000 a night and are rumored to be other-worldly.
