Amazing Deal Alert: 36 British Airways Avios Per Dollar Spent at Nordstrom!
Online shopping bonuses have been all the rage lately. Many retailers are gearing up for a busy Valentines Day shopping season and it looks like the British Airways e-store and Nordstrom have a whopper of a promotion: 12 Avios per dollar spent normal ratio plus "Triple Avios will be awarded on your 1st qualifying purchase at British Airways eStore of more than $50 in a single transaction at Nordstrom via eStore between 26 January and 14 February 2012." That means 36 Avios per dollar spent! Even if you value Avios at 1 cent each, that means a 36% rebate (in the form of miles) for every dollar you spend.
This sounds too good to be true, right? Well TPG reader Michael tipped me off to this deal and even sent me a screen shot showing the pending bonus miles.
To access the British Airways E-store go to britishairways.com and log-in to your Executive Club account (you can sign-up here if you need one) in the top right -> Executive Club -> Collecting Avios -> Scroll to the bottom, Everyday spending -> Shopping -> Shop with BA E-store now -> Go shopping
Nordstrom should be listed under the "Double Avios" column at 12 avios per dollar spent. When you click on it, you'll see the details with the Triple Points promo listed at the top
Important- YOU MUST ENTER THE NORDX3 promotion into the Promo Code box and make sure it accepts before clicking through to Nordstrom.com. Also note that this won't work with Gift Cards.
The great thing is that Nordstrom has free shipping until February 6 and free returns, so I see little risk with this promotion. Worst case scenario you can send everything back without incurring any costs- except the time it will take you to shop and package up returns (or stop into a store).
Think about it- one-way short haul flights on American are only 4,500 Avios- that means you get a free one way flight for every $125 you spend!
It's only 12,500 Avios for a one-way coach award from Los Angeles to Honolulu- that's only $347.22 in purchases!
You get where I'm going with this. I highly recommend taking all screen shots of promotions in case we need to fight for it, but it's worth a shot in my eyes. I just did all of my birthday, anniversary, personal and holiday shopping for 2012- all while completing the spend requirement on my new Ink Bold card! Cha-ching.
