At the beginning of the month, Amex gave its flagship Platinum Card a major redesign. The issuer added some perks to the card, such as a $200 annual Uber credit and the ability to earn 5x points on hotels when you book through amextravel.com. Plus, the card increased its welcome bonus from 40,000 points to 60,000 points after you spend $5,000 in the first three months in addition to increasing the annual fee from $450 to $550. But, the physical card also got an update as well, as Amex upgraded it from a plastic card to a metal card.

And now, we know that The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is getting the sleek, metal upgrade as well. TPG reader Bobby saw the below image on the Amex Facebook page, which appears to show the Business Platinum Card featuring the same design as the personal card.

We reached out to Amex, and a representative confirmed that the Business Platinum Card is indeed switching to a metal card. The redesigned card will be introduced later this year. Unfortunately, we don't have an exact date, and it's not clear if anything else will be changing with the card, but we do know that it will feature a metal design at some point this year.

While this isn't exactly a surprise, it's nice to see that Amex is planning to overhaul its top business card as well — hopefully without adjusting the fee. Meanwhile, if you're a cardholder of the personal Platinum Card and haven't requested the metal version yet, you can do so by calling Amex or visiting the Amex website.
