Specialty liveries are relatively common in the airline industry, but some are certainly more special than others. One of the more memorable liveries in recent memory is Icelandair's Hekla Aurora. The 757 is painted in hues of blue, green and black to form a stunning, painted representation of the Aurora Borealis, a natural phenomenon famously visible in Iceland.

As you'll see in this crazy aviation video, Icelandair contracted a special airbrush painting company to take on the rather daunting task of replicating the vibrancy of the Northern Lights. Each artist on the team worked in a specific section of the aircraft to paint using just a photograph as a guide. Then, each artist was checked by the leader to ensure everything flowed together and that they represented the phenomenon accurately.

Have you seen Icelandair's Hekla Aurora? Better yet, have you had the chance to fly in it?
