The ride of tomorrow is almost ready to depart as Tron Lightcycle Run now has an official opening date at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

Tron Lightcycle Run is unquestionably the biggest attraction addition to Walt Disney World in 2023, and we now know that after several pandemic-era delays, it will officially open on April 4, 2023.

In the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland, Tron will take guests on a thrilling ride with Team Blue racing against Team Orange in a quest to be the first through eight "Energy Gates."

WALT DISNEY WORLD

As one of the fastest roller coasters in all of the Disney Parks, demand for this ride is likely to be very high.

A virtual queue will be in place when the ride opens and will likely stay that way for a few weeks to a month when demand is at its highest, as has been the case for new ride openings in the last several years. There will not be a standby queue available, but you will be able to purchase an Individual Lighting Lane entry in the My Disney Experience app. Pricing will likely run between $15 and $25 per person, but will vary by day. Additionally, here's how to make a Park Pass reservation to ensure you can get into Magic Kingdom on the day of your choosing.

Tron Lightcycle Run also utilizes a double-sided locker system for bags and loose items. You can use your MagicBand or ticket to access the lockers, where you will drop your items off before you ride and then pick them up from a door on the other side of the locker as you exit. You can keep your phone, wallet, glasses or other small items with you and store them in a compartment on the ride vehicle while you ride.

If you have an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World, you might see guests racing on Tron a bit sooner than April 4, as Disney cast members will enjoy previews in the coming weeks, along with annual passholders and eligible Disney Vacation Club members.
