There's a new luxury hotel overlooking Cairo's iconic Nile River, blending contemporary design and Egyptian culture in a beautiful celebration of place.

The Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile, the hotel group's largest pursuit, has officially started welcoming guests to enjoy its 615 rooms, including 52 suites, all overlooking the river with balconies to soak up the stunning views. Travelers can step outside the hotel and stroll along the Nile or take a short car ride to major sites like the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, the pyramids of Giza and the city's Coptic Quarter.

"The opening of the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile signifies an important milestone in Sofitel's commitment to redefining luxury hospitality; it also is the largest hotel that we've opened anywhere in the world," Nicolas Gronier, the vice president of global marketing for Sofitel, said in a statement. "This exceptional property combines Sofitel's renowned French savoir-faire with Egypt's rich local culture, offering guests an unparalleled experience overlooking the iconic Nile River."

The hotel is spread out across 24 floors and features plenty of space; rooms start at more than 440 square feet and are decorated with calming blue tones and rich wood accents. Each stay comes complete with an indulgent soaking tub and rainfall shower along with aromatherapy amenities to elevate the experience. But guests staying in the suites will be able to take their experience to the next level thanks to a 24-hour butler service and access to the exclusive Club Millesime, which welcomes guests with everything from complimentary breakfast to cocktails and canapes at night.

Beyond the private club, the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile features five restaurants serving up everything from Japanese and Italian fare to Egyptian-Lebanese cuisine with an extensive selection of hot and cold meze and traditional dishes like fatteh at the riverfront Jayda Nile Terrace restaurant.

The hotel also pays homage to its surroundings at its spa, where guests can relax in the Jacuzzi and saunas and enjoy treatments that draw on "traditions of Egyptian medicine." Outside, enjoy the more than 3,000-square-foot pool or work off all that food at the fully equipped fitness center.

This property is the second for the Sofitel brand in Cairo, joining the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah. Its debut also comes ahead of plans to open a new property near the pyramids of Giza in late 2027, which will be called the Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza.

Rates at Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile start around $155 per night.
