Great news for people who love sun, sand and Hilton Honors: The Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort is now open in Cancun after Hilton converted, refurbished and reflagged the Royal Uno All-Inclusive Resort & Spa.

The resort, within Cancun's bustling Hotel Zone, is a milestone property for Hilton on multiple fronts. It marks the company's 90th hotel in Mexico, its 10th all-inclusive resort in Mexico and the Caribbean, and its 14th all-inclusive property around the world (with plenty more on the way in the coming years.)

At this exciting new property where travelers can earn or burn Hilton Honors points, guests who opt for the know-what-you-pay-upfront property have a lot to look forward to. Here are just a few of the highlights.

Fresh and modern rooms

HILTON

It's not uncommon to hear from travelers that many older all-inclusive resorts are in need of a major face-lift. So, that's exactly what Hilton did with this property.

Inside the 540 rooms (including 81 suites), guests can expect to see a fresh and modern design, natural light, pops of ocean blue against natural stonework, free-standing soaking tubs and rainfall showers. Rooms also include amenities such as Nespresso coffee makers and daily restocked minifridges, and some even have private plunge pools, whirlpools or balconies.

For a more exclusive (basically a clublike) experience, book an Enclave room. It comes with perks such as a personal concierge, in-room welcome amenities, souvenir beach bags, an upgraded minibar, nightly turndown service, a private check-in era, a lounge with food and drink, a private pool and beach area, and access to guaranteed dinner reservations.

There's plenty to eat and drink

Hilton, like other brands with all-inclusive offerings, is working to revamp and refresh what people think about food at these resorts — and the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe has a lot to offer.

For starters, resort dining options include a standard international buffet, a casual poolside restaurant, a place with Asian favorites, a restaurant with traditional Mexican cuisine, an Italian and Mediterranean spot, a rooftop cocktail bar serving appetizers with live music, a coffee shop with typical coffee shop fare, and room service.

The dining highlight here is Flama STK, a steakhouse with a large international wine list helmed by the property's executive chef, Leonardo Trujillo.

The restaurant also has six different bars, including the aforementioned rooftop lounge and a classic lobby bar.

It's family-friendly (but adults still have their own space)

While there are plenty of adults-only all-inclusive resorts dotting the map, family-friendly ones have evolved over the years. Here, travelers with children can take full advantage of the Kids Club, with activities like arts and crafts, or the Teens Club, full of video games and table games. There's also a dedicated family room with movies, board games and storytimes.

There are also separate pools for adults and families, so people traveling without kids can have a little space to themselves.

There's a lot to do on and off the property

HILTON

Though many people's dream all-inclusive vacation centers around lounging by the pool or beach with a drink in hand, this resort offers much more in terms of activities.

Guests can sign up for yoga or cooking classes, dance to live music or a DJ, get the blood pumping in the fitness center, or head to the spa for a treatment or a soak in the outdoor thermal area.

Snorkeling at Nichupte Lagoon is also a fun option. Take advantage of the resort's concierge team members as they can help book excursions to nearby Mayan ruins, deep-sea fishing trips or a visit to swim at a cenote.

How to book

Rates through the end of 2023 at this new Hilton all-inclusive resort start around $444 or 98,000 points per night, based on double occupancy. With the Hilton Honors American Express Card, you could receive a free night here by earning 100,000 Hilton Honors points after you spend $2,000 in purchases on the new card within your first six months of card membership.
